Orange City invites you to the 85th Tulip Festival!

Each year at Tulip-time it is Orange City’s good fortune and great pleasure to welcome thousands of visitors from near and far. Join us for a day as you recall the gentle charms of the old world and catch a new glimpse of the old Dutch customs.

What began in 1936 as a small celebration of Orange City’s Dutch heritage has led to over 80 years of what is now known as the Tulip Festival. Our annual celebration occurs every third weekend in May.

Vibrant Volunteer
Opportunities Abound

It takes hundreds of people to keep Tulip Festival thriving each year. Tulip Festival offers dozens of volunteer opportunities for individuals of all ages, as well as opportunities for artists, crafters, and food vendors to join the festivities. Communities and organizations are invited to join our parades with float entries, and marching bands are invited to compete in our daily street marching competitions.

Orange City

A Rich History. A Vibrant Heritage.

With vision and determination, Hendrick Jan Van De Waa, Sjoerd Aukes Sipma, Jelle Pelmlder, and Huibertus Mulienburg were appointed in April of 1869 to travel from Pella to Northwest Iowa in search of land to settle a new colony. The land they found was sufficient in size and the soil was fertile and rich. This was Sioux County and the future looked bright.
